Community Culture through Food: Cooking with Grains – Monday, March 27, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm – Virtual.  (Note new time) This presentation features Maureen Quinn of the Oregon Extension Agency and a two-county family nutrition program. Community Culture through Food: Introduction to Foraging – Friday, April 7, 2023 from Noon to 2:00 pm, at Tryon Creek State Natural Area (map), led by Erika Ironwood. Erika will introduce participants to a variety of wild edible and medicinal plants that grow right here in our backyards. She has been a forager and herbalist for 17 years and has been teaching publicly for five years. Erika is committed to demystifying foraging and to encouraging stewardship of wild places in the Pacific Northwest. Attendance is open for adults only, and space is limited, so registration is required. To register, email to Stefana Sardo, chefigata50plus@gmail.com, and include the words “Foodways: Foraging Walk” in the subject line. Note: This class requires good shoes and weather-appropriate gear!
